Letter from the President

We would like to take a moment and Thank You all for your continued support of NEWA…without you, our wireless association’s success, and charitable giving, would not be possible! As we begin 2025, we would like to reflect on highlights from 2024 and share some exciting news as well.

In March 2024, we held our 4th Annual Charity Hockey Event and raised $7,500 to benefit the New England Center for Children-Autism Education & Research located in Southborough, MA. Our 5^th annual tournament just took place on March 20, 2025 and was a night filled with friendly competitive fun for the same truly wonderful cause! The students and staff get such joy out of this event so please be sure to follow them on social media, too. Special thanks to everyone who helped organize the event, our dedicated attendees, players, and to our generous sponsors.

3rd Annual Charity Cornhole Event & Networking Social raised $10,000 for the 1st Lieutenant Derek Hines Soldiers Assistance Fund based in northern MA. The total donation was a combination raised from the event and an individual donation of $2,500 from a “Friend of NEWA” for which we are most appreciative. The $10,000 has gone directly to helping our local Veterans in need. We hope you can join us again this summer on June 12th as this event always supports our military and is a ton of fun!

NEWA’s 17^th Annual Charity Golf Event which is our largest event with 288 golfers and 350+ attendees every year raised $50,000! We allocated $35,000 to NEWA’s legacy, the NEWA Scholarship Fund, and the remainder will be used to support other NEWA programs and events. Without all of you, this event’s smashing success year-after-year would not be possible…thank you!  You asked, and again, we listened…we’re bringing the event back to a more centralized location this year. We will be hosting the event at beautiful Juniper Hills in Northborough, MA on September 18^th!  (SAVE THE DATE NOW!) Changing courses will also enable us to raise more money for the NEWA Scholarship Fund and reduce some of our pricing. Sponsorship info will be available in early July and, as always, will be tailored to budgets of all sizes. Get ready for another truly epic event brought to you by Event Co-Chairs Heather & Tara!

Keeping to the golf theme, NEWA & WWLF are proud to continue their continued partnership and will be hosting a TopGolf Networking Event in Canton, MA on November 6^th for all members to enjoy.

NEWA also held an Educational Event sponsored by TEP and PerfectVision which featured two incredible speakers, Karmen Rajamani-WIA VP Government Affairs WIA and Victor Drouin-NATE Board of Directors/Green Mountain Communications. The event was held in Portsmouth, NH which was determined, per our recent Membership Survey, to be a recommended location for an event. Thank you to all who attended and had the opportunity to learn more about local legislation, regulatory, and marketplace development from Karmen and Victor. Please let us know if you have any recommendations for our next Educational Event, we always welcome your ideas and feedback. Our Education Committee is looking forward to holding another event later this year or early next.

Of special note, all of the events we hold would not be possible without Heather Harrington-NEWA Vice President & Events Chair and her incredible team of Lead Volunteers. Our Lead Volunteers are Shanna Palmer-Correia, Caitlin Cuevas, Pat & Laura Hynes, and Christine Cooper.  Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help NEWA along the way, we truly appreciate YOU!

The 2025 NEWA Scholarship Committee has been busy collecting applications as the deadline was March 31st. We are honored to award scholarships every year, thanks to your continued support. The lucky winners will be announced in May so please be on the look-out!
