Case Study: Airports
Building on a relationship that started when American Tower built the original Distributed Antenna System (DAS) in 2013, CVG looked to its long-time infrastructure partner to expand coverage to a new five-story customer service building and rental car and ground transportation center. The project also entailed upgrading the existing network to support mid-band 5G across the airport, aiming to significantly improve the traveler experience and accommodate rapid passenger growth.
Customer Challenges
Airports experience heavy foot traffic, resulting in substantial data demands from passengers as they connect with family and utilize apps to stay entertained waiting for flights. Travelers expect a ubiquitous connected experience, no matter where
they are in their journey, including the garage where they’ll pick up a rental car, use GPS to get directions, and call home with an estimated arrival time.
