Case Study: Warehousing and Logistics
A warehouse was experiencing long processing times for clearing goods in and out of the facility due to a significant number of manual administrative tasks, leading to slower operations and higher error rates. Underutilization of warehouse space due to warehouse traffic issues and human access limitations, i.e. aisle size and stocking height of goods, was another issue. Lack of real-time inventory visibility led to overstocking, stockouts, or misplaced items exaggerated by the time-consuming process of periodic stock inventory reassessments. Specifically, the warehouse’s 45,000 square foot facility’s existing network struggled to expand on their number of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) due to network data capacity constraints.
Read how JMA Wireless deployed a private wireless network solution, which connected all IoT sensors and warehouse management systems, with 5G penetrating every corner of the warehouse. The customer was able to significantly expand the number of AMRs in conjunction with upgrading the warehouse with a high-density robotics storage unit. Other smart warehouse improvements included barcode scanning, mobile computing User Equipment (UE), voice picking, robotics palletization and material handling.
